Clicking on them, one will learn the river nitrate and microplastics content . Also we detected more settlements and factories that pollute surrounding waters; however, in four districts of Leningrad Oblast the contamination issue is being solved via pilot composting toilets. Lomonosov, Volosovsky, Gatchina, and Luga are the pioneers.

“Small-scale local solutions to reduce nutrient load into the Baltic sea” project surprised our team on the upside. Kaikino Art Estate and Golden Horseshoe Ranch have joined us. The new partners constructed demo composting toilets with wheelchair ramp and handrail for people with disabilities. Also we’re glad that we managed to install 4 demo complexes instead of 2 that were originally conceived. Moreover, the administration of Luga is interested in eco-friendly solutions, and the authorities intend to set up the composting toilets in the city park.

Friends of the Baltic and experts of Climate Secretariat of Russian Social Ecological Union (RSEU) published the materials on climate change, climate adaptation strategies, flooding issue, and eco-friendly solutions for everyday life. NGOs in 26 Russian regions used those manuals in their work, including 920 schools and 7 municipalities that took climate action and energy conservation measures.
SPARE, a school project on application of the resources and energy (устойчивое словосочетание), in Russia developed new directions of activity, and engaged more than 40 kindergartens and Centers for additional education to take action. Moreover, the energy efficiency topic was complemented with resource saving issue; thus schools, kindergartens, and project groups conducted several events on International Day of Energy Saving and published their climate action plans.

More and more people are interested in microplastics issue! This year scientific and educational organizations, social movementslocal citizensmass media, and Nature Use and Environmental Management Committee of St. Petersburg Government took an interest in this topic.
