Barents-Baltic Nature and Man Program (BBNP Program) coordinators and members of the Public Council of Luga River Basin and the rivers of the Southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, as well as members of the Salmon Council of the Luga River Basin discussed on December 26th the results and future plans of BBNP Program. They shared the results of the Program activities - publications, established cooperation with authorities, municipalities, farmers, fishermen, citizens; as well as findings of river watch; results of surveys on water management and climate change; environmental situation analyze and priority tasks of NGOs.

How to deal with the problem of domestic wastewater treatment in settlements without central canalization, what kinds of the toilets to choose for rural households, and how to protect our water bodies from pollution - that were the topics of the seminar  “Environmentally friendly ways of wastewater treatment for small settlements and gardening communities”.

Seminar was held on November 29 in Saint-Petersburg by Ecocentrum Ltd within the Coalition Clean Baltic program "Barent-Baltic Region. Nature and People", and the project "Small-scale local solutions to reduce nutrient load into the Baltic Sea" of the Baltic Sea Conservation Fund.

The dry eco-toilet, established 9th of September 2017 in the FAUNA gardening community on watershed of the drainage areas of the rivers Shingarka and Chernaya, has been working around 2,5 months until winter frost.

Working meeting on saving the population of Baltic salmon in Luga river basin was held on October 26th in Kingisepp social and cultural center in the frame of Barents-Baltic Program Nature and People. Public organizations, business, fishermen’s, science, authorities were among the participants. Baltic Fund for Nature NGO, as well as Ecocentrum Ltd and Friends of the Baltic NGO were organizers of the event.
