Water meets people: learn, act & influence

Transboundary project “Water meets people: learn, act, and influence” is devoted to water quality of three rivers: Sestra, Virooki, Seleznevka (fin. Rakkolnjoki). The project consolidates scientific research and social initiatives in order to improve the environment of the Gulf of Finland and adapt to climate change effects in Russia and Finland.

Ecocentrum is working on public awareness part of SEVIRA project. We support public river watch actions, carry forward eco-friendly solutions for water pollution reduction, and publish materials on Gulf of Finland and its rivers condition. Also we organize multstakeholder roundtables for local residents, officials, and businesses, thus everyone’s getting involved.

Project participants: Finnish Environment Institute, Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Southeast Finland, Institute of Limnology, Russian Academy of Sciences, Federal State Budgetary Institution Northwest Administration for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, and Ecocentrum Ltd.
